Acoustic Guitar Basics

Learn acoustic guitar online with virtual lessons. Ideal for complete beginners or those who wish to fill past learning gaps. We’ll start with a basic foundation to get you feeling confident right away! This is a method-based study with a set syllabus. You’ll know what to expect from week to week in your private lessons. It’s based on a mix between classical guitar fundamentals and modern acoustic guitar. This program is a prerequisite for our other fingerstyle, classical, and songwriting classes.

We’ll focus on your fretting hand technique first. Learning the basic chords and melody playing. You’ll use the pick and practice rhythm guitar and strumming. (There’s no fingerpicking in this program. That comes later.)

By the end of the program you’ll read standard notation and chord charts. You’ll create your own chord progressions in any major key. You’ll learn to change between chords smoothly on the beat. You’ll also learn to improvise and compose effective guitar parts for two or more guitars.
